Brains?

If there's one thing I love, it's zombies.
The idea of the dead coming back to life and feasting on the flesh of the living is an idea out of this world and that's why I love it so much.
There have been many zombie movies made over time, but my most favorites are:
Diary of the Dead, 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later (these weren't exactly zombie movies, but the infected victims seem to act a lot like zombies), Land of the dead, Dawn of the Dead, Resident Evil Series and Survival of the Dead.
Most of these movies were directed by George A. Romero who's the best man for the job when it comes to creating a zombie masterpiece.
Zombie movies can sometimes be quite difficult to shoot though, judging on how good you want it to be. If you want your movie to be drop dead amazing, then you must provide these qualities:
#1. A one of a kind story
Every movie needs one of these, but this is a key thing in a zombie movie, because many zombie flicks tend to be the same otherwise. A couple of friends or family grouped together trying to survive, most of them become zombies and in the end the main character falls in love or lives happily ever after. If you want a zombie film that really dazzles people, then you've got to twist it up a bit.
#2. Reasonable actions
A lot of the times movies don't think too much about this, but it can really make a movie in to something. The setting is always important but not as important as the script. Relating back to the first quality, a good story acts upon good dialogue but especially on actions. What you make your characters do really takes the story on a long, exciting ride, but it's not just about the characters, it's also about how the zombies act, and how you can make them believable zombies to an audience. If the characters are running for their life through a field and there's a swarm of living dead chasing after them, then make sure to hold the moment and be sure to add in tiny little actions now and then, like tripping of tumbling down a hill or something like that, it adds in a lot of suspense and can really get someone leaning closer off their seat.
#3. A believable cause
This is a biggy. In every single zombie movie ever made there is always a cause, whether there's a virus/infection or an event/incident that managed to awaken the dead. This quality needs the most creativity in order to bring the movie alive, after all, what's a zombie movie without a good cause? This can be pretty difficult to do, but if you think of all the causes ever invented or even just one cause that you know of if you haven't seen too many zombie flicks, if you twist it up enough to make it seem like a brand new idea, then you've got your cause. Making it believable on the other hand, is a bigger step you have to take, because you have to relate it to today and think about if it could really happen. You don't necessarily have to make it believable, but the causes that are, tend to bring a whole lot more thrill to the movie.
So those are the three important qualities that I look for in zombie films and how I know if they're good or not. Every time I finish watching one however, the thought always manages to hit me, "What if zombies actually invaded this planet?" The scariest thing about that question though, is not about the concept of the thought, but the thought of other movies. Ghost movies are based on ghosts, which have been captured in real photographs and recordings. Serial killer movies are based upon actual sadistic killers in our world today, and zombies are added to the myths section where vampires and werewolfs are. But vampires are simply just nocturnal human beings that drink blood, and werewolfs are no more than humans that have been raised by wolves. If you think about it deeply, zombies are the only thing left to actually be brought into existance, but will we be ready when that day comes?

Zombie movies are interesting. I enjoyed the resident evil series on the count that it had to do with an apocolypse type setting, where almost everyone was infected with a virus. I find zombie movies interesting since it is based on a behavior of humans which is not what has overcome us , but is yet totally plausable.
